Errol Walker – In These Times

One for all those feeling the pinch after Christmas. Apparently there have been 30,000 recorded versions of Gershwin’s Summertime. Not sure how many ripostes there have been but here’s one of them. Errol Walker clearly didn’t associate the sunshine with easy livin’ as this lament to the daily grind illustrates. Social-conscience roots reggae at its finest, with producer Lee Perry on blistering form as subtle snare echoes bounce off razor-sharp hi hats over the top of a sublime vocal cut.
